This 2007 Ferrari F430 Challenge "Track/Race/Club" car developed by Ferrari Motorsport for the F430 Challenge race series around the world and is a true track-focused masterpiece with only 142 units ever made by Ferrari. This exclusive "invitation-only" F430 Challenge was developed from the road-going F430 and created to meet the demands of Ferrari’s track-going clients, the F430 Challenge features a number of weight-saving measures compared to its more sedate road-going brother. These include a Lexan windscreen and side windows, a largely stripped-out interior and a carbon-fibre intake cover, reducing its weight by around 125kg. In addition, the car’s torsion bars and springs were upgraded, the electronic gearbox is also F1-derived and works in exactly the same way as the one used aboard the Grand Prix car. Thanks to a sintered two-plate clutch and specific software, it also offers the same gear-changing times as the road-going F430 (150 ms) in the much more extreme track conditions. The gear ratios have also been modified with respect to the road-going version as has the final drive ration order to make the very most of the engine on all the circuits where the F430 Challenge will race and the F1 transmission’s gear ratios. Furthermore, an ultra-light exhaust system was installed and the bodywork was enhanced with revised ducts for improved airflow. Inside the pared-back racing cabin, this modern race car features a full roll cage FIA spec, carbon-fibre bucket seats and five-point racing harnesses. Ahead of the driver is a quick-release steering wheel, which is fitted with controls for radio communication and a pit lane speed limiter. An intensive series of development tests held at Fiorano and other prestigious circuits have honed the F430 Challenge's sure footedness as it offers a stunning series of features sure to meet with the approval of its drivers. As ever, the transfer from Formula 1 is significant, particularly with regard to the braking system which uses carbon-ceramic material (CCM) - a first for a Ferrari sports competition car. A colour digital racing display on the dashboard provides the driver with all of the information they need at a glance, while the row of shift lights above allows the execution of perfectly timed gear changes. This truly is not for the faint hearted and will be a total rush every time you get behind her on the track whether its competition or club day sprints its a sense of occasion every time. This particular example was owned by wealthy Singaporean Ferrari collector and has been in Australia now for 5 years and is good to go on track now and is mechanically in great order.
