The Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro prototype was the first Gen3 Supercars chassis assembled and
undertook a rigorous testing programme ahead of the platform’s induction to the 2023 Repco
Supercars Championship.
Owned by Supercars, the car was built by 11-time Supercars teams’ champions and Chevrolet
Homologation Team, Triple Eight Race Engineering, and was the test subject for all development work on the Camaro program, which made its return to the Australian championship with the debut of Gen3 regulations in 2023.
The prototype Camaro first hit the track in 2021, making its public debut in demonstration runs at the 2021 Repco Bathurst 1000. The chassis then partook in an expansive testing programme across 2022, as well as making promotional appearances at numerous 2022 Supercars events.
The car has since been primarily used for promotional purposes, though was also used for additional testing early in 2023 and is currently located at Supercars’ technical centre on the Gold Coast.
This special, first-of-its-kind Australian Supercar has never raced but comes track ready including all on-track componentry that the current 14 Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro Supercars race within the Repco Supercars Championship.
