Designed by Elfin Sports Cars and styled by the Holden Design team under Styling Director Mike Simcoe, the MS8 was unveiled at the 2004 Melbourne International Motor Show, receiving enormous interest for its radical proportions and uncompromising engineering.

The Clubman was offered in three distinct configurations Sportster, Roadster and Racer. The Roadster represented the ultimate road-going specification, adding a full windscreen, removable door panels and two-piece tonneau while retaining the lightweight, open-cockpit philosophy that defined the Clubman.

Under the ownership of International/Australian motorsport legend Tom Walkinshaw, Elfin remained committed to the philosophy established by founder Garry Cooper creating lightweight, fast and agile sports and racing cars that prioritised the driver above all else. The MS8 was the ultimate expression of that philosophy for the modern era, combining a beautifully engineered lightweight chassis with Holden's charismatic V8.

Inside, the philosophy continues. The cockpit is deliberately minimalist and driver-focused, with prominent instrumentation, programmable shift light, silver-faced auxiliary gauges, machined alloy Elfin gearshift knob and exposed structural elements that reinforce the MS8's motorsport character. Black leather bucket seats with four-point harnesses, leather-trimmed grab handle and quilted suede rear panel complete the purposeful cabin.
