1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 | Australian Delivered | 1 of 6 | RHD | Matching Numbers | 42,500 Miles | 1 of 38 RHD ever made

We are proud to present a truly exceptional opportunity to acquire this stunning 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4—one of only six Australian-delivered examples and one of just 38 factory-produced right-hand drive cars worldwide. This makes it a rare and highly significant collector-grade Ferrari. Delivered new to Dr Geoffrey Maxwell-Stubbs of Brighton, Victoria, through official Ferrari concessionaires W.H. Lowe & Co., the car was originally specified in Argento (Silver) over beige leather—a timeless and elegant factory combination.

Later in its life, the vehicle was refinished in iconic Rosso Corsa as part of a major advertising campaign for Simoniz Royale polishing wax, adding a unique and interesting chapter to its provenance. After several custodians, the car was acquired by its most recent owner approximately eight years ago, at which time it displayed 36,580 miles. Today, the odometer reads approximately 42,500 miles, reflecting careful and sparing use. The vehicle has just undergone a fresh service and roadworthy inspection and is ready to be enjoyed by its next custodian.

The Ferrari 365 GTC/4 is one of Maranello’s most intriguing and understated grand tourers, produced over a brief two-year period between 1971 and 1972. Often regarded as the more refined and usable counterpart to the legendary Daytona, it offers a compelling blend of performance, exclusivity, and practicality. With only 505 examples produced globally, this Australian-delivered car represents a particularly astute acquisition and remains notably undervalued in today’s market.

Internally designated as the Tipo F101, the 365 GTC/4 shares its core engineering with the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 “Daytona,” including its chassis architecture and engine block. However, it distinguishes itself through elegant Pininfarina styling, characterised by a sleek wedge-shaped fastback profile, subtle surfacing, and concealed headlamps—delivering a more refined and sophisticated aesthetic. Configured as a 2+2, it offers occasional rear seating, prioritising grand touring comfort and driver engagement.

As was Ferrari tradition of the era, the coachwork was designed and crafted by Pininfarina in Turin before final assembly and mechanical integration in Modena. The car utilises a tubular spaceframe chassis, clothed in steel body panels with aluminium doors and bonnet, balancing rigidity with weight efficiency. Power is delivered by the legendary Colombo-designed 4.4-litre V12 (4390cc), producing approximately 335 bhp. This iteration of the V12 is tuned for smooth, tractable performance and strong torque delivery—perfectly suited to the GTC/4’s grand touring intent.

Unlike the Daytona’s downdraft carburettor arrangement, the GTC/4 features six twin-choke side-draft Weber carburettors, enabling a lower bonnet line and improved packaging. A five-speed manual gearbox is mounted directly to the engine, while the drivetrain’s rearward placement achieves an exceptional 51:49 weight distribution—hallmarks of Ferrari’s engineering excellence.
Suspension is via independent transverse A-arms with coil-over dampers (dual units at the rear), complemented by anti-roll bars front and rear. Braking is provided by ventilated discs on all four corners.

Standard specification included cast magnesium wheels with Rudge knock-off hubs, with Borrani wire wheels available as an option.
Notably well-appointed for its time, the GTC/4 featured power steering, electric windows, and air conditioning as standard. The interior was originally offered in a distinctive combination of leather and tartan fabric, with full leather—as seen in this example—available as an option.
Throughout its life, this vehicle has been consistently maintained, including a comprehensive gearbox rebuild carried out by respected marque specialists Sports & Classic Cars.

Today, it presents in very good overall condition. The paintwork is well maintained, while the parchment interior shows light, age-appropriate patina consistent with careful ownership. Importantly, the car is accompanied by its books, history file, and original tool roll and kit, further enhancing its authenticity and collectability. Often described as a “Daytona in more refined clothing,” the Ferrari 365 GTC/4 delivers a comparable V12 driving experience with greater comfort and usability, making it one of the most compelling and undervalued classic Ferraris of its era.

This represents a rare opportunity to secure an Australian-delivered, matching-numbers Ferrari 365 GTC/4—an authentic expression of the golden era of 1960s and 1970s grand touring, where style, sound, and presence defined automotive excellence.
