1971 Bolwell Nagari V8 GT Coupe - ONLY 2 Owners from new! - Total Restoration by Healey Factory - Amazing Power/Weight 425HP/700NM

We are proud to present a truly exceptional opportunity to acquire this stunning 1971 Bolwell Nagari V8 Coupe Australian made by the Bolwell Car Company here in Melbourne with just a hand full of factory-produced right-hand drive cars left. This makes it a rare and highly significant collector-grade Australian motoring history. Delivered new to Dr James Patterson Sydney, NSW, the car was originally specified in Rosso red over beige leather with woodgrain finished dash—a timeless and elegant factory combination retained to this day. The original factory steel wheels were replaced in the 80's with period correct B45 Simmons alloys finished in black gloss which are staggered and enhances the driving experience. Since her full restoration she has travelled 6400 miles since this full rebuild mechanically, cosmetically.

This amazing sports GT was optioned with either a Windsor 302 or 351 V8 mated to a 4 speed top loader manual gearbox but when this Nagari was restored many decades ago by her second owner of over 45+ years she was stroked to 408ci producing 425HP and 700NM. The upgrades complete with alloys heads, hydraulic cams and lifters, 750cfm Holley Carbs, custom built stainless steel sports exhaust which makes her sound incredible. The vehicle has just undergone a fresh service and roadworthy inspection and is ready to be enjoyed by its next custodian. The rear suspension was also upgraded to fully adjustable independent rear suspension with inboard discs as well as a heavy duty aluminium radiator and vintage air-conditioning.

The Bolwell Nagari is one of Australia's most intriguing and understated grand tourers, produced over a brief 4-year period between 1971 and 1974 built here in Victoria by the Bolwell Car Company with approx 100 coupes and 18 roadsters built. Often regarded as the more refined and usable counterpart to the various European alternatives of the day, it offers a compelling blend of performance, exclusivity, and practicality. With only 100 examples produced this Australian-delivered car represents a particularly astute acquisition and remains notably undervalued in today’s market. As mentioned this example had had ONLY 2 owners from with the last 45+ yrs and the well known Healey Factory were commissioned to conduct a full nut bolt restoration and she presents beautifully to this day.

The Nagari was a popular choice of production sports car in the early ‘70s, competing in the Australian Sports Car Championship (ASCC). Peter Warren won the 1975 Australian Tourist Trophy for Production Sports Cars driving a Bolwell Nagari which just confirmed the cars durability, performance and that Australia could produce a winning sports car to go up against the best the Europeans could offer. While the Nagari was a turn-key production car, it was born from the great Aussie tradition of specials and kit cars, which included the J&S Hunter, Purvis Eureka and Buchanan Cobra, amongst many others. The Nagari was the first of its kind to run a red-blooded Aussie V8 and is regarded as Australia’s finest homegrown sports car

Standard specification included well-appointed for its time the Nagari came with woodgrain style dash inlays, full carpets, leather sports seats, leather sports steering wheel, electric windows, and leather console and doors. The interior was originally offered in a distinctive combination of leather and cloth fabric, with full leather—as seen in this example—available as an option.
